Experience Easter Week in Sitges 2026

Enjoying Easter vacations in Sitges is an excellent opportunity to explore this charming jewel of the Costa Dorada. During this time of year, the city becomes an irresistible attraction, offering the perfect balance between relaxation and fun. Located just 30 minutes from Barcelona, Sitges is the ideal destination to combine the serenity of its beaches with the lively cultural and gastronomic offerings.

Holy Week 2026 in Sitges will be celebrated from March 27th to April 6th. If you're unsure about what to do in Sitges during these days, you can enjoy a wide variety of traditional events, such as the Blessing of the Palms, which marks the beginning of the celebration, and the iconic Silent Procession on Good Friday. Additionally, highlights include the Caramelles and the display of the different Holy Week floats, which fill the town with history and culture. Below, we remind you of the most important days:

March 27 and 28: Friday of Sorrows

Before Holy Week officially begins on Palm Sunday, the Hermitage of San Sebastián displays the Virgin of Sorrows in the chapel, where a special prayer service is held at 6pm on both Friday and Saturday.

March 29: Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week in Sitges, a day when palm leaves and olive branches take center stage in traditional blessings at different churches throughout the town. A perfect day to enjoy the festive atmosphere and welcome one of the most special weeks of the year

April 2nd: Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is one of the most memorable days, since Holy Week processions are celebrated throughout the day. These are artistic representations that are usually mounted on floats or platforms that are carried in procession through the streets during the Holy Week celebrations. In turn, the religious sculptures of the floats, such as the Holy Sepulcher or the Sailors' float, are also displayed at different points throughout the city.

April 3rd: Good Friday

On Good Friday, two iconic events take place. At 8am, the Way of the Cross begins at the Sant Joan Baptista Hospital and ends at the Church of Sant Joan del Poble Sec, honoring Jesus' journey with the cross. In the afternoon, the Procession of Silence takes place, winding through the streets in a unique atmosphere: the lights are turned off, the drums resound, and the emotion of those attending is palpable. It’s a moving tradition that leaves no one indifferent and is well worth experiencing firsthand.

April 4th: Holy Saturday

Although Saturday is usually a quiet day, nightfall marks the beginning of the Easter Vigil, when groups of Caramelles begin their singing, which continues past midnight. Caramelles are popular songs performed during Holy Week, a tradition that dates back to the 16th century and still retains all its charm.

April 5th: Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday in Sitges is a day of celebration and joy that marks the end of Holy Week. Churches fill up for Easter Mass, and the atmosphere in town becomes more festive. It is also a perfect time to stroll along the promenade and enjoy the local gastronomy.

April 6th: Easter Monday

In Catalonia, Easter Monday is a day for families to gather around the mona de Pascua, a cake decorated with chocolate figures that godparents give to their godchildren. However, in Sitges, the tradition is rounded off with a final performance by the Caramelles groups at the Hospital Sant Joan Baptista.

Easter is a perfect opportunity to discover all that Sitges has to offer: charm, gastronomy, culture and the sea. Book your apartment now and live an unforgettable getaway with all the comforts..
